In the beginning, when God was creating the heavens and the earth, the Spirit of God was hovering over the waters. (Gen. 1)
Hovering…when the evening is still except for the whisper of trees and crickets playing their spindly violins, can we lean in and hear the presence of God? Is He in that whisper that brushes your face?
When a soldier bleeds our countries freedom into the earth, does it produce fruits of labor or does the ground just mourn over the cost of peace?

A single image has been burned into my mind over the journey of America. Many ask where an artist gets their ideas; mine appear in my minds eye like a photo. I either spread it on a canvas or conduct it into a chorus of words, but either way it’s like the saying goes and I just bleed it onto the page.

The residents of this country have strung a lasso over the edges and are running…100_2429
Where can I go from your Spirit?
We are uprooting our heritage and taking it to places dark and hopeless
Where can I flee from your presence?
You could say we are flying on wings of fear

depths, you are there.
But, there are those pulling back the reigns because they want to stay and live in hope for a once blessed land.
If I say, “Surely the darkness will hide me and the light become night around me,” even the darkness will not be dark to you; the night will shine like the day, for darkness is as light to you.
Psalm 139: 11-12

I see people watching the skies for a Savior to come before it all turns to ash. Some have already fled and dart from state to state in homes they can drive, searching for answers or hiding from what may come. And some are soldiers to the bone, ready to protect our home at all costs.

Come journey with me as I go through the process of finding America.

I invite you to join me, tell me your stories or just follow along as I capture the story, our story of America. Like the biblical parables, the book will be told through fictional characters going through the real struggles we face today.

Throughout this blog, I will be visiting this subject (true stories as well as a few fictional scenarios) as I work my way through my book (for a brief description, scroll to the bottom of this page). If you want to add your thumbprint, share your story with me in the comments, or contact me personally at srossbooks@gmail.com
